The “Zarasai” Campground was established in 2005 on the very shore of Lake Zarasai, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Nearby is a forest where you can find plenty of mushrooms during the season, and according to ichthyological studies conducted in 2014, the lake is recognized as having abundant fish stocks. A few steps down from the campground’s shore, you’ll find a pier where both amateurs and professionals can fish with confidence. You’re most likely to catch roach and perch, but some lucky anglers even manage to catch catfish and pike. From the same pier, you can dive right into Lake Zaras, where the water is clean and inviting on hot summer days. A freshwater spring flows right nearby. If you’re in the mood for romance, you might want to take a leisurely rowboat ride, and if you prefer a more active experience, the campground offers kayaks. One of the unique attractions here is Laipynių Park. You can reach Putinų Island, located on Lake Zarasas, via a zip line. Those seeking an extraordinary thrill are always satisfied and leave with a smile, promising to visit the zip line again. And who wouldn’t want to glide through the tops of the pine trees! Laipynių Park is unique in that it offers the opportunity to explore not only to able-bodied people but also to those with mobility impairments. At the campground, you can stay in a cabin; there’s also a campsite for those traveling with tents and RVs. The grounds are secure, fenced in, and the gates are locked at night. There are showers, restrooms, and a kitchen, and you can also use a washing machine. The grounds feature a campfire site, gazebos with barbecue grills, exercise equipment, and a children’s playground. The city center is just a few kilometers away; you can ride your bikes along the paved path or simply walk there (it’ll take just half an hour) while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way.
