Vasaknos Manor

Description

Vasaknos Manor was acquired and established in 1505 by Jonas Radvila I, castellan of Trakai in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Later, it was managed by Lithuanian land marshal Jonas Radvila and his brother Mikalojus Radvila the Black. The Plater counts took over in 1719, followed by Count Jonas-Mykolas Tiškevičius in 1828. A park with 5 ponds and walking avenues lay beside the manor. It became state-protected in 1958 and was listed as a natural monument of local significance in 1986. The manor's barn, listed as a cultural heritage property, has now been restored and converted into a hotel. A brewery operates in the former servants' house. An old oven used for cooking is also recognised as national heritage.
