Description
It was here, on this farmstead built in the early 19th century, that the poet and priest Antanas Vienažindis spent his childhood. The farmstead in Gipėnai has remained almost unchanged. The long, old-fashioned residential house, with its end facing the road and featuring a spacious front porch typical of this region, has a section dedicated to the poet’s memory. In 1971, thanks to the efforts of local historian Algimantas Žilėnas, the A. Vienažindis Memorial Museum was established at the homestead, featuring authentic furniture, facsimiles of the poet’s manuscripts, selected works, and more. Today, the museum is maintained by the poet’s relative, Donatas Juodelė.
