Description
Vasaknos is an old manor dating back to the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the second half of the 16th century, the manor belonged to Cardinal Jurgis Radvila, in the 17th century, its owners were the Daumantai-Siesickis and the Pranckevičiai-Radziminskiai families, and in the 18th century, Vasaknos belonged to the Pliateris family. In 1828, Count Jonas Konstantinas Tiškevičius (1801–1862) acquired the manor and built a Classicist-style palace there. However, the Tiškevičiai family rarely visited Vasaknos; for them, it was just one of many residences. In 1866, Vasaknos was inherited by Count Benediktas Henrikas Tiškevičius, one of the family’s most prominent figures, a renowned photographer and traveler. Apparently, he never even visited the estate, as the count spent most of his life in France, while his estates were managed by tenants and stewards. In 1914, the Tiškevičiai sold Vasaknas. The estate had been so neglected that, just a decade later, the mansion was missing part of its roof and windows, the floors had already crumbled, and even the ornate fireplaces inside were gone. By 1934, all that remained of the beautiful, two-story mansion were the walls, whose bricks had been completely carried off by local residents. In 2003, the new owners acquired the remaining parts of the Vasaknai Manor complex. Using funds from the EU Structural Funds, they renovated the manor’s granary, converting it into a space for recreation, celebrations, and entertainment. The former manor granary now houses a hotel, a restaurant, and an event and conference hall, while the former servants’ quarters have been converted into a modern brewery where three varieties of Vasaknų Manor beer are brewed and aged: Light, Elis, and Dark Elis. The manor park features walking trails, a sauna by the lake, and an outdoor gazebo. Here you can organize events, celebrate various occasions, and enjoy delicious meals, so we warmly invite you to visit! Services: • Accommodations (50 beds) • Organization of events, conferences, and parties • Beer tastings and other entertainment
