Independence Monument in Salakas

It was built and unveiled on 28th of September 1930 to commemorate the 500 th anniversary of the death of Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas.

Sculptor -  Mordechai Farbmann, he was assisted by Petras Jasinavičius, Mykolas Traigys and other residents of Salakas. The height of the podium and memorial - 5.31 m. In the north, south and west side of the podium there are stairs, there are columns in the corners, in the middle - the obelisk on a rectangular base. In the west and east side of the obelisk there is a bas-relief of allegoric figures of a warrior standing with a burning torch in his hand and a woman on her knees. On the obelisk plane - reliefs of Vytautas emblem, Columns of Gediminas, swords, helmet and oak leaf wreath. A cross made of stone and metal, and a flag pole stands near by.
